When should I contact Mazor?

You can contact us when you need to choose a specialist, are unsure whom to approach before treatment or surgery, need a second opinion, or find it difficult to navigate the healthcare system. The Mazor team helps you make sense of the options, reach the right medical professional, and move forward with guidance and support.

Who is the service for? Do I need a prior connection with Mazor?

The service is for patients and their families from all backgrounds. You do not need any prior connection with the organization or its team. You can contact us directly through the website or by phone.

Is there a fee for the service?

Mazor provides its advice and guidance free of charge.

Tests, consultations and treatment provided by external healthcare providers may involve fees, depending on the setting in which the service is provided and your healthcare coverage.

Who are the Mazor advisors?

Mazor has a skilled and highly experienced team of advisors, led by Rabbi Shimon Rogoway. Each advisor develops in-depth knowledge of the medical fields they work in and is closely familiar with the relevant specialists, departments and medical centers.

The advisors devote considerable time each day to meetings and consultations with doctors throughout Israel, and sometimes abroad. They also follow medical cases closely, gaining a thorough understanding of the details and decisions patients face. This accumulated experience and ongoing contact with doctors allow them to offer guidance grounded in professional and practical knowledge.

Can I contact you about any area of medicine?

Yes. You can contact Mazor for guidance in all areas of medicine, including pediatrics, surgical specialties, complex illnesses and mental health.

Each request is reviewed according to the issue and the need, with relevant medical professionals consulted when necessary. Even if you are unsure which specialty your concern falls under, you can describe it in your request and we will help direct you to the appropriate professional.

Do you provide medical recommendations?

No. Mazor advisors do not provide medical recommendations, make diagnoses or determine treatment. Our role is to recommend which doctors and medical facilities to approach, according to the case and the needs of the patient.

When two doctors express different opinions, the team can help explain the considerations and differences between their positions, based on those opinions and consultation with the relevant doctors. We can also recommend whom to approach for further assessment or another opinion. Medical decisions are made with the treating doctors.

How do you choose which doctor or medical center to recommend?

The main consideration is professional suitability: matching the doctor or medical center to the specific case, specialty and experience required. Even within a single medical field, there are subspecialties, so it is important to understand the details of the case thoroughly.

We also consider the age and location of the patient, their health fund, insurance coverage, the urgency of the case and other personal needs.

This is why we created the online request form on our website. Its questions are designed to give us the information needed to provide the most accurate and appropriate guidance for you. The more complete the information, the better we can tailor our response.

Do you only refer people to private doctors?

No. We may recommend doctors and facilities in either the public or private healthcare system, depending on the case and the options available. We take your health fund, insurance coverage and personal circumstances into account, aiming to help you find professional care that is as accessible as possible.

I already have a treating doctor. Is it still worth contacting you?

Yes. During treatment, you may need another specialist, a second opinion or help navigating the healthcare system. You can contact us at any of these stages. Our guidance works alongside your existing medical care and does not replace it.

Can I come in for a meeting?

Certainly. Rabbi Shimon Rogoway and the advisory team meet with patients, usually in complex cases where Rabbi Rogoway or one of the advisors feels a meeting is needed and asks for one to be arranged.

Patients who would like to request a meeting themselves are also welcome to contact the office during opening hours to arrange an appointment.

Meetings are not intended for emergencies. The wait for a meeting with an advisor is usually at least one week, so in an urgent case it is important to call rather than wait for a meeting.

Do you also help coordinate appointments and provide ongoing support?

Where appropriate, our coordination and support team helps move appointments, tests and other processes forward with healthcare providers. The scope of assistance depends on the needs of the case and the options available. Appointment dates depend on the healthcare providers, so we cannot guarantee an appointment or an earlier date in every case.

If a difficulty arises or you receive new information after receiving guidance, you can contact the team again and quote your existing reference number.

Can I contact you on behalf of a family member?

Yes. Family members can seek guidance and assistance for their loved ones, with the consent of the patient and respect for their privacy. Please explain your relationship to the patient and specify who will be the contact person for follow-up.

How do you handle the privacy of medical information?

We understand the sensitivity of the information you share and treat every request with discretion and respect for privacy. The information and documents help the team understand the case and provide appropriate guidance. If there are particular sensitivities or preferences about how we contact you, please mention them in your request.

Can you help when the treatment needed is abroad?

Where appropriate, Mazor helps direct patients to specialists and medical centers abroad and assists with coordination ahead of a consultation or treatment. If a medical flight is needed, transport and accompanying support requirements can also be considered, depending on the medical condition and the circumstances of the case.
